jumpin' july MFT hop...

Hola friends and Welcome to July's Blog HOP!! Man, the year is half over and I hope it's as fun as the past 6 months have been. Well, I am sure you have already been seeing all these fabulous *new* sets, and drooling all over. I know I have been....  So if you wanna properly start the Hop, in case you just dropped by my blog, Kim's blog is where the fun starts!

I picked the *new* Who's That Girl set Catch Some Rays. {something I have not been able to do much of this summer because I stay in my room and color, lol} I colored my girl up yesterday and I came up with the idea to use the bottom row of tiles as a pool edge. It isn't photographing as well as I hoped...but after making the tiles I covered them with a dimensional glaze. OMgosh, I was thrilled with how it came out and that is why I wanted to share this card. I cut out the stack of books and drink, and masked off parts of the bathing beauty, to make it look like she was holding her sunglasses and the umbrella was on the opposite side of her. I had so much fun plating with this set yesterday!!

I stamped the image on my MFT Perfect Panels and also used the Summer MFT paper pack for my dp. The umbrella is popped up and if you like that grass...check out my little tutorial in the Tips & Tricks area here. [It's my first try at doing something like that.}

Bellaland and back...

I made it back into the States without a problem and without getting raided for all the booty I got from Bellaland!!  Once again, I will be on a high that will last me through the long weekend...I had that much fun! We stayed at Bellaland longer than I would have thought and then Linda and I were the last to shop, before we hit the road. The drive is not so long when you are laughing and talking & did I say laughing! Hopefully what i showed the girls up in Toronto helps them a little and a big "Hi!" to Christine Dol & her friends & Carolyn with her lip plumping story!! It's nice to know that other girls share this passion and are crazy as I am!!

This card I am finally revealing is a special image that Christy Croll was kind enought to do up and send us girls as a digital image for a surprise for Emily! You may have caught her on Emily's blog and if not, here is my card and click here to see the other she has gotten in so far!

 

And if you think she is cute as much as I do, I have no idea if this image will go any further! Gosh, I love that crazy hair!!! 

*new* product alert!!  I left Bella with some INSANE microfine glitter. It took my breath away when I sneaked outta my teaching chair and saw it glistening on the table. I finally got a little flowersoft and some Smooch and these cute little wooden flowers! Emily was soooo nice and let me play and try things out while I sat and colored the *new*  ADDY tude is a Cupcake Diva! She is so cute and the cupcakes looked cool glittered...Nicky kept the proof! LOL  {{NOTE...I can not find this glitter on the Bella site, will email Emily and see where it is}}

Well friends, I need to unpack and snap a few picks of my goodies! You will die when you see what I left with, LOL 

summer grillin'...

Toronto here we come!  Yes, that's right...while you are sitting comfy in your home, I am on the road to see the Emily & Nicky, from Stamping Bella! My passport is ready for its first trip across any border and my toes have a fresh coat of polish on them.

That aside I want to show you a recipe book {altered notebook} that I forgot I had not posted on my blog! Ahhh, I don't normally forget things like this, but outta site, outta mind. I was gathering up some cards to donate for some brave girls who are doing the 3 Day Walk, they are still raising their funds, and I figured they could sell my cards and keep the cash. Well, lo & behold, there was my notebook hiding under a pile of cards!!

When I first saw the Who's That Grillin' Guy in my mail, I thought about recipes, and I have a few notebooks waiting to be converted into something fun. I wanted to keep it masculine and there are so many things I would change now! Do you ever experience that?  I used a combo of Graphic 45 papers and vintage & new buttons. The black metal book plate is grem Basic Grey or maybe 7 Gypsies? They have been around a long time in my stash and I figured I would use one...seemed like a guy embellishment. lol  The hardest thing was not being able to put any glitter on it!!  :(

my little emmy...

I gotta ask...did you guys cruise through the Bella Hop yesterday?? WOW, it's about the best word I have to describe the amount of amazing cards! I personally had to finish 90% of it at home because there was just to much to look at, without distraction! lol 

For our BellaRIFFIC friday today, I have another tribute to Ms. Bella...Little Emmy...

Is she NOT cute as a button?? I could seriously just squeeze her!

I colored her with my prisma pencils and blended with gamsol. Her skintones are done with my copic colors E0000, E000, E00, a touch of burnt ochre &R20 for the cheeks. The paper I used is from October Afternoon, an 8x8 pad. I used my nesties {of course} and some clear glaze pen & lots of glitter on the pink skirt. Now, this stamp does come with it's own little sentiment, "having one of those daysssss", and I put it on the inside of the card because I needed a smaller sentiment if I was gonna follow the sketch. {usually I try to!}

emily...happy birthday to you...

...happy BLOG hoppin' birthday to you! Ok, I won't try to sing anything original and you folks passing through on this huge Hop just wanna feast on some eye candy, don't ya!

Lemme welcome you to Emily's little birthday bloggin' parade. The fun all started on Em's blog and if you are brave enought to go from start to finish, then let me say...you will be inspired! BTW, these Hops are open to anyone, and you just need to check out the Bella forum on SCS. This is our second one and WOW, that first one was amazing!!

Enough blathering, I want to show ya a card that I can not wait to see if another person chose. Now see, I thought I would kinda go out on the limb a tad...with Just my Type {by Jessica Rose} from Stamping Bella. I have slowwwly been gathering Jessica's images because I am in love with them and they are a little quirky, like me! lol   

You are probably looking at this going...uh, birthday?? This typewriter comes with some 5 different little sayings that you can stamp onto the paper, and I used this one, so that on the inside of the card I used one of Bella's 'happy birthday' sentiments. Did I think a little outside the birthday box for this one! haha

So, for a few details, I used the Basic Grey Wisteria 6x6 pad. I knew there were patterns in this collection that looked old fashioned and that was the feel I was aiming for. I think that the flowered pattern looks like old, soft cotton sheets. My mom had an old typewriter when I was a little girl, and I remember the old blueish/grey color it was, I loved playing with it. I grabbed my prismacolor pencils and went from there. I added clear glaze pen over the tiny keys and the space bar. No glitter! Nothing else fancy, just a simple button and a piece of ribbon.

fresh HOT cookies....

Ok, I wanna officially say I hate humid summer weather! It make work a chore, I feel like I am moving a little slower and can't wait to find a cool spot to hide out. I got home a little later yesterday because I needed to run into Target {God bless the person who started that store!} and by the time I made dinner, I didn't get moving in my room, until just about 7 pm. I had a few images colored up and just needed a few finishing touches and make it into a card.

I am not trying to brag, but boy, this looks so much better in person!

I used my 6x6 pad of Basic Grey Bittersweet paper and a Martha punch for a little country detail. This Whiff of Joy girl is one of my favorites ever! The sentiment is Mixed Messages from Papertreyink, an awesome set.

Tomorrow is the Birthday Blog Hop over in the SCS Stamping Bella forum, and the fun starts on Emily's blog at 11 am. Don't forget your sketch card for some Bella bucks too. See ya soon friends!

it's 'kini time....

OMGoodness!! I have missed being around and posting but with class and my mom here for the night, cards had to take a backseat for a couple days. Yesterday I got back to coloring and after I post this, I am going in for more! If you wanna stick around at the end and hear about my first coloring class, then ya can. I don't wanna bore anyone who isn't interested.

I was in the mood for something really different from Stamping Bella and I wanted to use a new pad of October Afternoon paper. My BFF Linda had this image and I 'borrowed' it from her. She happened to color it up amazingly a little while back, so I had to wait to color one of these up for myself. I colored row of 'kini's to coordinate with the cherry paper. My fav summer fruit! I colored with prismacolor pencils and cut with my long rectangle nestie, then glittered and glazed. I even added a tiny amount of lace on the middle bikini, with my .005 pen. I have not decided on a sentiment, but I think I will write one of the Bella sentiments inside, because I don't have the one that says "it's a 'kini thing".

This week is a big celebration for the Bella, it's her birthday this thursday and there is a blog hop that starts at 11 am eastern time. It will kick off on Emily's blog and it's birthday themed...of course. Then on friday we have BellaRIFFIC friday and a *new* sketch from Nicky!! Now, doesn't this look way easier than that one I came up with? No excuses guys...get your card made and make Emily's birthday super special and show her how much you love your stamps, uh, her stamps... LOL Here are the deets.

 

 

Now, for my personal exciting news...my first class was awesome! If any 'students' are reading, I can not believe how well you all 'got it'. I had a hard time telling which sample was mine, they all looked so dimensional. Everyone did a fantastic job and seemed to enjoy themselves, the day flew by. I have three more classes scheduled for July...an advanced technique class, a Ketto card class and another beginner class on July 21st. As long as there are people wanting to learn, I love to show them.

remember playing 4 square...

I loved that as a kid! My how time flies! It's friday and I have been busy prepping for my first teaching class. Yeah, still coloring a little here and there, but making sure I don't forget or overlook anything for my new venture!!

Now, you know I ask this every week if you stop in and see what BellaRIFFIC card I made...did you play along? It was my sketch and it stumped me for a day or two, but here is what I came up with...

A cute little  Maisy KETTO, with her sparkly little crowns! I have had Maisy stamped and in my "treasure box", but for some silly reason had not colored her up, hmmm, what's up with that?  I colored her with my prismacolor pencils, and blended with gamsol. The crowns are stamped on blue cs, colored and glittered. {It took me over night to decide if I wanted the crowns glittered, I did it very early in the a.m. before work.}

The dotted paper is another Cosmo Cricket line, called Lil' Man, and that is where my color inspiration came from. The circles have turquoisese stitching, you might miss that with the paper in your hand, so you would never know that in this photo. lol The little clip holding my 'happy birthday' sentiment is from SU and the creamy brown ribbon is from Michael's...in the wedding section!

Well, I need to be moving along myself...a few more things to do today and I want to give a shout out to Mary, {FrancieCrafter on SCS} today is her birthday!! Have a great one & good luck at the casino! Win realllly big so we can quit work and open our own place, hehe

Welcome "Hoppers" and right this way... Did you came from the start, at Kim's, {the MFT Lady} blog? Are you lovin' what you are seein'?? I know I was when I first layed eyes on these two *new* sets. Rainy Day Friends & I Need Coffee Flopsey

Guess which set I wanted to show off tonight! Yes, you are sooo smart. Rainy Day Friends it is!! As soon as I saw the small frog I knew I wanted to use him as my background paper. I almost never think to use this but a bulb went off in my head. Ya know when that happens, it makes the whole card making process go so much smoother. {sometimes I get lots of 'thinking' time at work}

My little girl is stamped on MFT's Perfect Paper Panels, and the other paper is from assorted places, like Archivers and SU. I colored this using my prismacolor pencils and blended with gamsol and I have to say, I am lovin' the how the hair came out! The skintones are all done with copics, E0000, E000, E00 & R20.

Well, I don't wanna take up all your time so I need to send you along to Michele's place for some more eye candy! ooohhhh, and don't forget there are two giveaways in this hop!

check out my new wardrobe...

Got copics? I know, I never thought I would go down this path, but it's killin' me looking at all those shades, juicy, vibrant shades... Well, a girls has her ways and 36 neatly boxed little markers showed up in my mailbox yesterday and I had to take them home! If it were a kitten or lost puppy, I would have done the same thing. ***but, don't think I have turned to the dark side and will ever forget the pencils...the pencils are here forever and the markers are just for me to play with. In fact it could be a long time before I reveal anything I color with them.

Excitement is over and hows about I show off a labor of love from sunday evening... peekaboo Bella! {the inside says peekaboo}

OMGosh, I finally caved and broke into the Wisteria paper from Basic Grey and used that to pick my colors for this card. {{secretly I love purple, but I think it's hard to work with...I have cried about this many times already.}} I used a bunch of lovely muted shades from my prismacolor pencils to keep this kinda sexy and low-key...did ya catch that? Then...POW, a glittery, sparkly dress! Really, how sexy is this wardrobe??

Ok, must get on to other stuff, like coloring. Please, please join us for a BellaRIFIC friday sketch...it's my first try at photoshop elements sketching. Honestly as I sit and write this post I have no idea what I am doing with this sketch either...LOL  Just join me in my boat and then get your submission off to Emily by thursday and she can include it in the BellRIFIC lineup... you can be famous!! {maybe a winner too} ...and don't rock the boat cause this girl can't swim!
