paper possibilities

of mice and bears...

I spent a good portion of my night yesterday, catching up on some SCS uploads. Messing around just a little on the blog...and I got no creative work done. {well, none that involved stamps and ink!} After I got outta work on Monday, I headed to see a friend who's recovering for surgery...and I gotta show you what I designed for her... 

I am no longer a Build-A- Bear virgin!  I have to say for all of you out there reading this, who have been into Build-A-Bear, I was not into the wishing, singing and twirling they get the little kids to do. I took a pass on that, even though Jordan looked irritated with me. I gave the bear a hug and made sure she was pleasingly filled and set out to put some clothes on her.  

Are these slippers not the cutest?  I did have fun dressing her up, trying to match the right undies to her flowered pj top!  I have always had a fondness of all things stuffed and Barbie. lol  I got to name the bear, Rory {Gilmore Girls}, and print out the birth certificate. She is now in her new home and she looked pretty happy to be lounging in front of the tv, watching Food Network. Next time I visit I might strap a pencil in her paw and teach her to color!  ok, fantasy over.

Here is the 'card' that accompanied Rory, and I can actually tell you I was not drinking when I put this together. I am calling it a 'card' because when I decided to sew the polka dotted paper to the base I forgot to open it up. What was I thinking, I have never done that before! Well, to end a short story, Mary got it as is, I had a tv show to catch. I knew these mice were gonna end up with her other House Mouse collection.

whipper snapper card & tags...

Oh my!  I pulled out my Whipper Snapper Gifts of Christmas stamp set this weekend. I wanted to use the square shaped 'holly jolly Christmas' type block, and see what I could create with it. I wanted it as my background and then popped the present on top. I wrapped the presents with a thin brown twine I found at Archivers. This is one example of where I used my patterned paper as a jumping off point for what other colors I was gonna use. This piece of Basic Grey is one of my favorites still, and even though blues aren't my favorite colors...I like it in Christmas paper! Odd, I know!  lol

One of the other things I played around with was coloring up the tree that comes with this set. I turned them into tags that I am gonna use this Christmas.   

I used a crackling liquid from Ranger for the first time. I wanna play with it more on some Christmas ornaments, but I like the look it gives. 

It's officially less than two months till Christmas, is anyone else ready to decorate their tree like I am? Mine does go up in mid November around my birthday, because I love to look at it.

special edition elzybell challenge...

Wanna see what the DT crew came up with over at Elzybells, for our special 'packaging'/gift giving challenge... click here. Here is what I made, because I found these templates on SCS and I bought a ton of Hershey Nuggets...lol  Click here to see where I got all my templates off of SCS. A huge task by a lady named Chris Simon, and I printed every one off a few months ago! 

I had to use Queen Kitty again, because the 'inchie' project a week ago, just didn't do this kitty justice! I first brayered up some pink on my Avery labels, sponged a little brown onto them, then added the fish bones in brown. {this nugget box hold 12 candies} I made my box parts and before I put the lid together, I scored it with my scor-pal, in a pattern to mimic the pattern I added to the pillow. I took apart the sentiment, like I often do, and stamped out some more fish bones to add as a little decoration with the bow.

If you have not tried these little boxes, then you gotta do it! They are fun, addictive and easy. I gotta warn you though...Hershey Nuggets are NOT the same size as Nestle Treasures. I found this out the hard way and ended up eating the chocolate over a period of days. I did see Treasure templates on SCS if that happens to be the candy flavor of your choice.

Hey, did ya all get any Elzybells stamps during the birthday celebration...I did my order yesterday because free shipping is hard to pass up! It's good until today, but I am not sure exactly when the cutoff time will be. Depending on your timezone, you may still be able to get a little early Christmas shopping in! {or in my case early birthday shopping!!}

elzybells news & halloween edwin...

Friday night and here I am, posting some fabulous news from Elzybells! In honor of Elzybells 5th birthday, Elizabeth is offering free WORLDWIDE shipping on your orders until Sunday, Oct.26th. You may have read this already on some of the other girls blogs, but if you haven't...it's a nice little bonus! Elizabeth has been giving goodies away, and on Sunday Elizabeth will be showing off a special DT project for 'packaging'. You can't get a peek just yet at what I have made, but it is a 'nugget' box, from a template I found on SCS. I love it! I can't wait to see what all the other girls have come up with!  :)

Now, switching gears a little I want to show you another Magnolia Halloween card.  Meet Edwin!

I put this little guy together this week and I was so happy with how he turned out!

I used my prismacolor pencils and gamsol to color him up. I used some Cosmo Cricket papers and a Making Memories epoxy star, to bring him to life. I also used my little Fiskar scissors with the deckle texture to cut him out...

  Awww, aren't they cute?

OMGosh! Who can resist a cute pumpkin, ghost AND kitten?  So friday night after my Stampin' Up workshop, we played a while with some new stamps and my BFF Mary had purchased some new Whipper Snapper stamps. I know you can see the glitter on my ghost, and he is so sweet IRL! I glittered him all up, and I used my Making Memories piercing tool to make sure his mouthand eyes didn't have glitter on it. The green thread like ribbon is sooo old, and some of the first stuff I bought when I started scrapbooking. Just another simple card that makes me smile!

Since I joined the Magnolia family I have been getting comments from all over the world! Man, I can not believe how the internet really is everywhere, and I can be at work, chatting away to someone in South Africa...hey Meahni! I love this hobby that reaches all over the globe!!

Ok, I consider you all friends now, and you know some odd little tidbits about me...so I am gonna tell you how sad I am tonight. I don't mean a little blue, but truely kinda sad... I was all giddy today because I had a week left before I got to see my hero in the flesh. Yes, THE woman who is full of 'good things' and master crafter... Martha, yes, that wonderful woman who spent time in jail, teaching the convicts about the finer things in life. My personal hero is coming to my area for a book signing and I just found out that I would have to take the day off next wednesday. Wristbands will be given out at 9 am and then it's all about waiting for a ticket. *sigh* She was so close and now it's just gone. Ya know, I will get the Cooking School book, but her name won't be inside. I will still love it and think of her fondly when I touch it's cover...{remember, I don't like to cook!}

Tonight I wanna show you a card that I made for a baby shower. It's that cute teddybella, from Stamping Bella, and I am in love with the layout/colors. 

I was told it's a perfect image because the girl who's pregnant is just tiny, and then has her baby belly! The sentiment is stamped out with those $1.00 stamps I found this spring. I also wanna show you what I came up with for the same mom-to-be, and it's for a gift for her and one for the baby...    

I was asked if I could come up with some little cards, like when you purchase matching wrapping paper. I came up with this idea from the start...but wasn't sure how I wanted to embellish. The papers are coordinationg Daisy D papers, and I pulled out some buttons and voila'! The alphabet stamps are from Hero Arts. Hope the new mom likes it all!

willow and her lantern...

Ya know, there are a lot of family members who don't probably know that I blog and I know that the ones who do, probably still don't look at it. Now that I have said that, and I am about to show you the Whiff of Joy image I colored for my mom...she probably will see this post. {Mom, if you see this, this is for you!} 

Willow holding her Lantern took some time to color, with her flowing gown...there was no way I was just gonna make a card out of it. It took me forever to find a piece of background paper I liked, that didn't clash or overpower my girl. If you look closely in the upper right hand corner of the cream mat, you can see a flourish I embossed with clear ep. {there's one in the lower left hand corner too} The frame is from Michaels, and I liked it so much I bought two and put Jordan's graduation picture in one.

So, this weekend was very productive...I got some running around done, and I got a lotta coloring done on Sunday. Halloween isn't too far off and I need to make a few more cards.

window shopping, mft style.....

I wanted to post this My FavoriteThings card with my new watermark, but I am going to need some technical help in getting it onto my pic. I have an old version of Photoshop and don't want to load it onto the new computer.  I eventually will pick up Photoshop Elements, but I always dread new 'stuff' like that, because I am not patient when I don't know what I'm doing. lol  So here is my card using the Window Shopping set that was released this month. 

I had fun coloring up a window full of sexy shoes and then I paired it with a very 'old fashioned' dress print. This is the first time I have paper pieced a card...I usually do my own patterns. But, I used the Memory Box paper for the background stripes and I thumbed past this pattern and knew it was for my dress. I think this girl needs a pair of those shoes, don't you! lol  As for the dress, I did add my pencils to it, with shading on the left, and some little highlights on the right. I just can seem to not add my prismacolors to my projects! 

Now, if you wanna keep reading, I didn't forget about being 'tagged' and here are 6 things about me, that only my close friends know...

1. I dream in color and I have outrageous dreams. I have been accused of making them up, but there's just no way I could make them up.

2. I could probably tell you every movie I have cried in, because I don't cry easily.

3. I wash my car in my driveway when the weather permits. I have been washing my cars since I started driving. I hate paying for a carwash unless it's too cold to do it myself.

4. I love to clean! re-organize and get rid of stuff. Sick, I know!

5. I have never broken a bone, had a surgery, gotten stitches or been stung by anything.

6. I used to enjoy baking, now I avoid it at all cost. If I didn't have to cook another meal, I might be blissfully happy! lol 

I know there has to be others out there who can relate to some of that stuff above. I would so rather be in my room creating, than in the kitchen cooking!

new magnolia dt member...

Yeah! I am so happy it's friday and I am having a little Stampin' Up! workshop tonight to celebrate...lol really it's just a good way to get some friends over to 'play'!  It's gonna be really casual, although I have like 10 candles burning and some nice mood lighting! A carmel, pecan apple pie and some wonderful cookies {all from Sam's Club!} I am of the age where getting home to rush around and make desserts is FAR from over. I even have my order written down on a piece of paper...I am so ahead of the game tonight! :)

So here is a question for ya...ever hear of Magnolia stamps? I honestly can't think of where I saw them first, but a friend of mine is in love with them! She knows how to navigate their site like a pro and she was showing me some of the stamps she ordered. Well, guess what I got in my e-mail box a few weeks ago...I got asked if I was interested in joining the Design Team. I asked about how many projects they wanted a month, and then said 'yes'!

My first stamps arrived a few days ago and while I have not gotten to color the little girls up yet, I did get to stamp out some of my friend Mary's halloween images. So here is my first official Magnolia card, and of course it was given to my friend Mary! 

I have to say, she came out really cute, I LOVE her boots! Please don't ask the name of that pumpkin paper though, because whatever company made it is under my little witch! sorry about that, and it goes so well with the theme here, don't ya think! As always, or almost always, I added some stripes to her stockings and the top part of her dress. I even used my ultra thin pen to write the sentiment up in the top corner.

elzybell challenge number 4...

Today is Elzybell challenge # 4 reveal day!!!! This challenge was for 'inchies', you have probably seen some of the stamping greats using these little guys. 1" x 1" sections of an image, turned into something awesome. For some reason I had never gotten around to trying this out...until now!

  I used my Kitty Queen acrylic set from Elzybells Art Stamps. I have to admit it was very hard to only keep a small portion after I had her stamped out, she's sitting on a big fat pillow...just like any queen would..lol! I cut her out with my 1 inch nestibilities die and because I stamped her on pink, I grabbed my 6x6 Basic Grey pad, the Eva line. I had used it on the Whiff of Joy girls and I knew the pink was in the right shades/tones. This is also the first time I tried to emboss the square shape around the kitty, using my nestibilities. {see, you can teach an old 'dog' new tricks}

I added some thin hemp-like thread and all royalty deserves diamonds...or shiny crystals found at Archivers... The inside sentiment says 'may you be treated like a queen', and I added the little fish bone beneath it, that comes with the set. *mwah* She is so cute!

Now the next challenge is black, white and one color! My thinking cap is on, I don't look good in hats, so I better come up with my idea soon. If you're up for a nice challenge, here is your chance. You see I love all my pencils and all my colored papers.... This isn't gonna be an easy task for me! lol  but, I am happy to see what I come up with.  {{{smiles}}} paula
