leopard, zebra and dots...oh, my

I hope you enjoyed my little story about Canada and meeting Linda & Pauline. One of the very generous things Linda did was let us raid her stamps. She had so many Bellas...I was in heaven! This is one of them and I loved it as soon as I saw it...DSC02693

I have to say that this does look better IRL, but you get the idea. I am going to change the 'friend' to my my friends name and mail it to her. She's kooky and one of those people who likes to snap pictures of herself. Yeah, I'm talking about you Jackman! LOL

The leopard prnt ribbon is from Wal-Mart and I made a frame outta it. Stitching around it was not easy at the corners, that stuff just wanted to shift on me. I colored this up with my prismacolor pencils and the little lampshade is popped up. Linda had a card made with this stamp and she popped her lampshade up, so I copied her! I have already beenthinking about other variations on this so I have some playing to do. But I have sooooo many new images to color, I am glad I have a week off coming up...yeah!

I will keep this short because you were so patient if you made it through the last post. I don't want to ramble on too much...have a wonderful day! Thanks for visiting, paula  :)

paper pickle love...

What an awesome store to shop at! Paper pickle...what this gem might lack in store space...it packs on it's walls. I don't know that I have ever seen so many stamps in one place, and that they let you rent stamps is such a cool idea. Love this shop and if you live in the Detroit area and are looking for a nice day trip...I would say, go for it! If you're a stamper, you won't regret it.

Are you wondering how I learned about this store? I started getting comments on my blog from 'lindah', and a friendship was born. It seemed that Linda and I were seperated at birth and it was funny at the similarities we had. So after several emails back and forth, I knew I was crossing the border to meet my 'sister' and see the store she teaches classes at. I can't tell you what a perfect day it turned out to be. The weather, shopping, food, show-n-tell and all the laughter was GREAT! I brought my posse with me...Dana and the two Mary's, and Linda's friend Pauline was also there. Pauline sent me an email a few weeks prior to introduce herself and what a talent that girl is! {{She also teaches classes at Paper Pickle}} Now this is alot of talent in one room! LOL

I took my prismacolor pencils with me and Linda showed me her copic magic. I admire the time and practice you all put in with those copics, it seems very fast and not yet something I have invested in.IMG_0018

So here is Linda doing her thing. I colored a Bella Fairie for her and she colored a Stella for me. I had picked up some paper at a warehouse sale, and when I grabbed a piece for me, I grabbed one for her. The piece of paper you see towards the upper right hand corner, is a piece I also have...I  picked it out for the inspiration to the Stella.IMG_0014

What a work of art!!IMG_0015

The finished project went straight to my bag and home with me!

IMG_0009 Here is Linda, looking oh so surprised with the paper I brought her...Yeah, that's me in the middle of that photo! LOL

Here is Mary Clark shopping at Pickle and the smiling faces below belong to Mary Jackman and Dana,ok, only Mary is looking she she was wearing her 'happy' face! Look at all Linda's copics...can you say mmmmmm

IMG_0003 IMG_0016 Now the dinner we had was AWESOME, besides being a super talented coloring queen, Linda is also a 'Martha' fan and enjoys cooking. We had grilled chicken, a pineapple rice and a greek salad. Needless to say we all wanted the recipes and I am waiting to cook this up for my family here! Thanks Linda for being such a wonderful hostess.

Pickle is a lucky place to have Linda and Pauline as part of their talent! I don't use this phrase often, but you girls ROCK!

where have I been...

Good Morning! It seems like I have been MIA in my scrap room, so I had to get back in there last night and make a few cards. The first one I want to show you is from from Stampin' Up!, Thoughts of Father...I do believe. I needed a card for an 80 year old birthday and I liked this scene.DSC02694

Do those scallops seem to girly? I really hope not, I liked how they looked.

I chose some Bazzill papers and a piece of my Basic Grey Archaic 6x6 pad. The sentiment is from Papertrey's Mixed Messages, have you got this little set of sentiments? It's awesome!

Seeing that this post is getting typed before I get ready for work, I still have to tell you all about my trip to Chatham, Ontario.  We had a GREAT time and wait til you see the other card I did last night. That post is gonna have to wait until I get home today...why does it take me so long to do these?? LOL See you real soon! paula

we're going on a road trip...

and I have been up since 5:30! I am bound for the great north, well...actually I am heading more east, BUT I am heading to Canada. I am going to visit {{ for the first time! }} Linda & Pauline...who are taking me to a cool looking stampin' store called Paper Pickle. The name alone...'paper' gets me drooling, and then add stamps and I am in heaven. OK, when I say me, I also mean my posse from work, Dana & Mary & bff  Mary. Four bad girls crossing the border, in search of rubber! DSC02644

I have been preparing for this trip for a couple of days and I did some running around last night too. So here is a card I did just before the grad party...using that cute Elzybells gal herself! What magical powers this girl had...did I tell you I am on the new DT??  LOL

I colored her up with my prismacolor pencils, Hero Arts glitter and a little bling. I used my Spellbinder dies and one of the $1.00 stamp sets I scored from The Scrapbook Zone. BTW, I went there yesterday and the little font sets are MIA! OMG, good thing I grabbed them when I did... I used my circle coluzzle to cut this card out...question to self, why don't I use that tool more? Self isn't sure, but will make a mental note to use it more in the future. The patterned paper is from SEI, sadly I only have a tiny little piece left.

Well, it is time to shower, shave the legs and eat breakfast. Ohhhh, I forgot to tell you that Jim picked up my new camera yesterday at Office Max. It too is crossing the border and I can't wait to try it out! It's a Canon PowerShot SD1100IS Elph, and if that means to you what it means to me...just know it is the coolest blue color and I am not a blue person. The case he got me is awesome...my husband does know my taste...it is striped and it has orange in it! I will show it to you later, because for dropping this in my purse and not having to always carry the big bulky camera...you gotta have a case!

see ya soon, with stories and pics, and more!  a very excited paula, signing out!   :)

cute mice ALERT....

Wow, an early morning post this morning...how fast can I type this baby out and jump in the shower? Last night I spent a lot of time coloring this group of mice! It is another card for Mary, and she hasn't seen it yet, so I decided to surprise her with this one! hahaDSC02667

The quick detail on this cheery card, is is just me, it's so bright! I love it! All the cardstock is bazzill and the patterned paper is Cosmo Cricket. I added some really flat ribbon and a few buttons. I have no idea what Mary is doing with all these cards, so I didn't make it specific for a birthday, and added a papertrey sentiment with their 'mixed messages' set.

Well, it is that time when I need to hop into the shower and prepare myself for a day of fun...aka WORK! What will paula do tonight, she is all alone...the husband and daughter are working late! The ideas are endless, but I will probably go sit in my room and create! Hey, that's a win/win situation! LOL    see ya soon!

for mary...

Happy 'July is almost over' day! Can you belive it?  Wow, after the 4th, it just flies. Last night I finished coloring up this Penny Black cat. Mary had seen this bathtub cat on my blog, while she was outta the office, and it got snatched up...LOL  So, I was planning another one for her, slaving for the right paper that I am hoping she likes. I decided on Sassafrass Lass paper, and some cream Bazzill cardstock. Can you see that pretty scalloped edge, very Martha don't ya think? DSC02665

It is a new punch from Martha and I found it @ Wal-Mart! {{thanks to Debbie Olson's tip}} I really think it will come in handy for baby cards, but I needed to try it out.  How about that shiny pink ribbon, from Michaels, I think it pulled it all together with the whole bubble thing going on in the tub. I wanted something airy and girly.

Hmmm, Mary better like this or I am gonna send it to my mom! :)

See ya!

jordan's grad card...

you know the old saying...the cobblers children don't have shoes!  Well, here at my crib, the family never gets a homemade card...if a card at all. Is it terrible to admit that I have never bought Jordan a card for her birthdays? oh, maybe one? I can't remember, but I just never do. Anniversaries with my husband? He gets me one, I don't know why, LOL I buy them and forget where I stuck it. Gosh, it's a good thing I started making them cards! Let's start with this graduation card...forget that the party was this past weekend and she is getting it tonight..hey, she got one and a pretty cute one too!DSC02662

Oh yes that is...an acrylic card, my first. Me and a couple peeps are taking a class next monday @ Archivers. All acrylic cards using Hero Arts stamps. I figured I would get a jump and try it out, see how it folds and cuts. I think I like this new card base and want to play a lot more... Soooo, I picked up a pack of acrylic, from Archivers, from a company called Grafix. I selected the 8 1/2 x 11 size, but it comes in many different choices. With this size I will get 10 cards outta my investment.  The monkey is from Stampedous, that cute little Changito is joining all his other brothers in my stamp drawer. The grad cap paper is from Reminisce, I just picked that up at Archivers...very classy. Jordan likes green, and I love the green accents I worked in. Wow, I am gonna sleep well tonight! LOL

On the other hand, I spent some time last night working on the blog. {{sigh}} I tried to add a little more content, websites and stores I like to visit. Well, it is not linking to the sites and I need to look into why. I did it with the 'blogs I browse', but ??? I got some little error note pop up. I want to run the 'new' Elzybelles DT along the side, so if you are having any problems, I am working on it all..  ;)

Thanks for dropping in! See ya soon!  paula

i stink you're sweet...

just a quickie for all my working friends...you know who you are! I am enjoying day 2 of non-work, well... that isn't exactly true. I am getting ready for a graduation party and I am busy, just not the kind of busy that will show up on my paycheck next week. {{ I miss sloan flushmate :p }} So here is a set of cards I did with my Spellbinder scalloped die...DSC02643

I know, they are sweet to look at but running through the cuttlebug was a slight chore! LOL  Having the Wizard that Spellbinders makes for their dies would probably be the best option for this type of card. The skunk is from Stampin' UP!, and the paper is from Bazzill and the ribbon that matches so well, is from PaperTrey.

I have to add that sewing in a circle is a talent I don't have! LOL

Thanks for dropping by today and stay cool! love, paula

happy dance time...

vacation...two days getting ready for a graduation party...yeah, it's finally here and I can't wait to see all my family and friends! I mean, celebrate my daughters achievments. LOL  Ok friends, here is the last of the wedding shower cards I made this past weekend.DSC02655

I have used this stamp before, borrowed from BFF Janine's house, this is the last one. I did not use terra cotta on here or brown, as you can see. I used glitter and some vivid prismacolor pencils, and glitter! I know, you are wondering if I meant to say glitter twice and I did! I love glitter! My desk has been getting a steady supply also because I tend to sprinkle it on my cards when the ceiling fan is on...baby wipes clean that mess up real good!

So, this paper...it's cool isn't it? I have had it for a few years. Never seen it again and someone even tried to get me to use it on a project for them a few years ago...I told her no. Not something I usually do, but where ever I bought it was not close to my house and I was saving it. Yeah, I know you understand where I am coming from. haha I don't know who made this paper, but it is so heavy and the flowers are embossed...I love it.

The stamp is Big on Spring from Stampin' Up!

I am off work on Thursday and Friday...yeah! I just found a new blog to wander around so I gotta work that in. I just subscribed to her feed and I am not sure how many months I am gonna have to read through. I will link it up to my sidebar and anyone who hasn't checked out Shannon Tuebner has gotta do it. {{sorry if I have misspelled your name Shannon.. I will get it right!}}  see ya!
