bella cooks thanksgiving...

DSC02798  What can be better than a Bella and apple pie? Well...I am gonna go out on a limb and say that my card is pretty close! lol

I colored her up and just fell in love with her. The papers almost picked themselves and I am sooo glad that I bought this piece of Cosmo Cricket patterned paper not that long ago! This card has a little cuttlebugged foldering {new word}, nestibilities, and the sentiment is borrowed from my new Whipper Snapper stamps. Isn't she pretty!!

Coming up next...another Whiff of Joy card, heck, maybe three! You gotta come back and see what I have been up to!  :)

inspired by nature sympathy card...

I was asked by a friend to make sympathy card for a family member. I was happy to make one, but...I have not made many. It's something that I have been checking out on other blogs, when I run across them. I have purchased them before, and I don't like the ones that make me sad. Personally, when that day comes and I get sent cards like that, I don't want to sit around crying at sad poems. So here is my take on a pretty sympathy card, that uses my new SU stamp...Inspired by Nature.DSC02796

If you know this set, then you know it's a silouette...and if you know me, then you know I still gotta use my pencils! I used soft, subdued colors, and the patterned paper in the background is some from SU, exactly what I needed. I think my soul sister Linda used some glitter on a sympathy card I saw of hers, so I put a little on as a border around my image. It needed a little something, I hope sparkle doesn't seem inappropriate. The tag is from Spellbinders and the sentiment is from Papertrey Inc.

Hope everyone had a productive card making weekend, or just a productive weekend like me...ahhh  a dust free house! See ya tomorrow!

baby teddy towel x2...

World Card Making Day and what is Paula doing...dusting and cleaning!

So is the life of a crafter who puts off their cleaning until a free saturday. This week seemed long and busy and I haven't gotten a chance to post since wednesdays MFT release party!

Thursday was another fantastic challenge for us Elzybells, and I want to show you my card for the sketch. I think I am just in love with this baby teddy towel...I even did a second card this week for a baby shower.DSC02783  This is the first time I used the button stamp from Elzybells Art Stamps, I love the look it gave to my card, and it didn't add any bulk! The patterned paper is all Papertrey, as is the sentiment and twill ribbon. Now this card is more unisex, but I did get to turn him into a true little boy card on thursday...DSC02795  I was able to make a card using blue and brown, and a sprinkle of polka dots! I love this color combo!

Now if you wanna check out the rest of the Elzybells design team cards, just click here. You won't be disappointed in the inspiration!  :)  Thanks for dropping in and hope you all got lotts of cards made!

another MFT sneak peek...

Hi guys...poor me has been asleep for a little while tonight, trying to get rid of a nasty sinus headache. I wanted to show you another My Favorite Things *new* release stamp! These guys are kinda like a companion to the cats...DSC02792

And don't even ask why I colored these owls with a purple background! Somehow I started with blue and grabbed purple and just went with it. Once again I chopped up the saying, I have a habit of doing that. Who knows what takes over my mind when I start coloring. I think I wanted to go for another un-traditional Christmas card, and you got to admit, there aren't many purple ones out there! lol

If you are wondering what else MFT has up their sleeves for this month, hop on over to the MFT forum on SCS between 9-11pm eastern time. There are six sets being released tonight and I have had fun with all of them!

See ya there! Paula  :)

MFT sneak peek...

How do ya like theses cats all dressed in their winter best!!DSC02788

When my *new* release stamps from My Favorite Things showed up in my mailbox, this was the first one I colored up. Two cats, in love, under the stars. Can you tell I added lots of Hero Arts glitter? I went a little crazy on the stars, hat trim and the patterned paper. I love these shade for an un-traditional Christmas card, and they just look so cool glittered up! {{ the patterned paper is from Stampin' Up }}

This wednesday @ 9:00 pm eastern you can join in on the release party in the MFT forum over at  SplitcoastStampers. Last month was my first one and I can't believe it's that time again, the two hours fly by and you get to see what all the design team gals came up with...that is my favorite part! No one see's things the same way, and you get so many different ideas. As a bonus, it's also a super friendly site, so don't be shy, just jump in like I did!

Getting all ready for a par-tay in Michigan! See ya soon!

drawing a piece of cake...

Something a tad bit different for me. I don't really draw very much these days, sometimes for funny cards for work, usually on the spur of the moment. Sunday morning I was wondering what to do for a guy a work, for a card his wife asked me to make. I decided to draw my own piece of cake, because cupcakes are all the rage...and are cupcakes really manly? lolDSC02781

I love my ultra thin pen and that is what I used to draw my piece of cake. I don't know where the penant thing came from, but I like the feel of it. I tried to give it some dimension, by making the 'happy' larger and higher up on pop-dots.

Short post today kids, I have a little house cleaning to get to, and that grass isn't cutting itself!  see ya!

fall flowers...

Am I the only one wondering where the weekend went? lol  I worked yesterday for five hours and then came home to color and relax...yes, there was a nap involved too!  I have a cool Impression Obsession stamp to show you, borrowed from my sistah Linda. I saw her card with this image and my jaw dropped! I made sure she brought the stamp with her whe she came to visit a few weeks ago.DSC02784

With a little nip in the air these days, I made my card with vibrant colors, the colors of fall...

I colored my flowers with my prismacolor pencils and gamsol, and then cut the square tile apart. The 'just because' sentiment is from Papertrey's Mixed Messages. That little clip holding my sentiment up is from Stampin Up.

I hope fall is finding its way to your corner of the world and I will be back tomorrow with a card that I have drawn for a birthday boy at my work. See ya soon!   paula :)

all dressed in white...

Here comes the bride...and look, she has a groom too!DSC02773

I needed a wedding card this week and the Elzybells Bride and Groom got to see some ink! I need to make two wedding cards for the same bride and groom, but from two different people, so this is my first one. I am really happy with the results...I added the stripes to the grooms pants and some new vintage silver glitter to the brides dress. I have been seeing so many cards on blogs that are using the Cuttlebug folders for some added texture and I knew it was time to dust mine off. Why keep collecting if ya ain't gonna use it! lol I used my Spellbinders tag trio and Papertrey's Mixed Messages for the little tag. Wow, I just realized that I didn't use any patterned paper on this card...that is very rare for me!

Judy, I hope your mom loves this card as much as I do! See ya soon!

September 25, 2008

you may not know this...

but after the big September reveal party for My Favorite Things...of which I got to be a part of because I am the September guest designer, I was asked if I wanted to stay on and become part of the Design Team! I said 'yes' that night and could hardly sleep with all the excitement of looking at all the other DT projects and showing off what I had done. I don't think I will forget how fast those two hours went and all the chit chat and stampers waiting to get online and start buying! Two days later I got an e-mail from Kim, the owner of MFT, and I ended up talking on the phone for a couple hours with her... telling her officially that I would love to stay on.

DSC02779

Part of staying on meant that Kim let me pick out a wonderful assortment of stamp sets...Rain or Shine was like top of my list! I have to say that when my package arrived with all my sets plus all the October *new* release stamps...I was once again in heaven! Needless to say the *new* stamps were hard to stay away from and I started coloring them right away...haha  but I can't show you those! So tonight I pulled out the Rain or shine set and played...I have to say that my first sets of MFT stamps were the dog sets...birthday dogs, walking dogs..I love their dogs. Hey, look, there's one here too and he has a little jacket on!

I used my Lyra colored pencils and gamsol to color these girls up and I lucked out and had a scrap of My Minds Eye paper that matched it so well! I used the rounded corner layout that was part on last weeks Elzybell challenge, and I added the 'friends' sentiment from the Rain or Shine set. I have so many ideas for this stamp set, I love all the different sentiments and the versatility that it's gonna offer me! yeah!!

I need to update my blog with the MFT DT list, and get a few more 'housekeeping' items added, so bear with me. I feel like I am just getting back on track with tearing my room apart and painting, and putting it all back together again.

I also want to add that I get a comment about once a week, wanting to know what I use to color my images. I forget to add on all my posts that it is colored pencils and gamsol, it doesn't occur to me...sorry about that. I use stumps from Tiawan and in case you don't know what gamsol is...it's an odorless, colorless mineral spirit. If I do use something other than my beautiful colored pencils...it will be noted for sure. You may fall out of your chair, so you have been warned LOL!! Enjoy the night, I gotta hit the hay!!  peace out, paula :)

September 24, 2008

guess what I did tonight...

I pulled out Anna Wight's Crazy for Chickens set from Whipper Snapper Designs. I had the hay bale colored from day one and it was time to add a chick to the top. I had a few chicks to choose from, and this funky little girl stole my heart and makes me smile!DSC02777

I also did something tonight that I have never done on a card...sew with no thread!  I have seen this before on several cards...hey Anna! and I love it...ok, I assume they don't all use a holed template because it is all so uniform. I added a little bit of linen thread from SU to look like the bale is actually tied up. The hay bale and chick are popped up, so I did have to pull out my thin pen and draw the feet in. The patterned paper is Cosmo Cricket's Happy Camper. Have ya'll used this yet? I just love it.. for fall, country, Thanksgiving... it is just an awesome line and super fun on both sides! You guessed it..my cardstock id Bazzill, man, you're good! lol

I am excited to have made my first purchase from Cut@Home and picked up the complete long rectangle set from Spellbinders. Four sets at 40% off, what a deal...I will be keeping a close eye on that mailbox! lol

I have been busy coloring up a storm for the past two evenings and tonight is my tv night...Project Rumway & Top Design. So I have to say 'see ya soon' and have a great night. :)   Thanks for dropping in!
